I just love playing in my junk journal - and that is what it is, a journal made from junk! Some are newspapers, magazines, book pages, junk mail, gelli prints, etc. all bound together to make a journal. If you click on "Junk Journal" on the label list to the right, you can see many of the pages I've completed as well as some videos.
I love the idea of making something from nothing.
Check out my latest YouTube video with a flip through and a project. I tried a different angle when I taped it, let me know how you like it.
Here are photos of the finished pages that I talked about:
And remember to click on over to Stamping Ground to link up to the WOYWW linkage or just peek into these amazing artists' rooms/desks/areas.
Dorlene, I adore your junk journal! The collaging, textures and layers are fabulous. Have a great week. Sarah #14

Hi Dorlene, thats looking great. Just left Linda's blog where she was talking about how your videos had inspired her to make one. Have a lovely week,Hugs, Shaz #5 XxX
ReplyDeleteWell done Dorlene, I think making a video is a very truthful way to display your work! I shall have to visit at another time, I’m a bit pressed, but will leave you a comment when I get there! Love the idea of your junk journal, and the ‘CA MAde’ page, so nice!
ReplyDeleteHi Dorlene, watched your video and subscribed too. Upcycling a variety of paper products that would normally end in the bin is a clever idea and if I was a junk journaler I'd be happy to do the same. You selection of pages are beautiful. Have a great week. Elizabeth x #29
ReplyDeleteWell done you for being so brave and filming for your YoutTube channel, I'm impressed!! The journal is really great, I love the different pages you showed!

love your junk journal! Helen #1
ReplyDeleteLove your junk journal - in fact I made one following your You Tube instructions! But I didn't have a long arm stapler so I sewed it instead - worked very well. I am going to use it as a travel journal for my upcoming trip to Niagara Falls in a week or so. Also I'm going to teach a group of homeless women how to make one in a local shelter. I thought it would be perfect as they only need to use what they find lying around. We will also be making our own stamps out of everyday things as well. Thank you for your inspiration! Have a great week (now I need to go and look at your new video!) Lindart #33
ReplyDeleteGreat video - very inspiring! I love the circles homemade stencil, must make that for my women's group!I also like listening to your thoughts as your making the page! Lindart

ReplyDeleteThanks for your blogvisit yesterday and for your sweet compliment Dorlene. After all the stitches I made on my son's jacket my hands itch to do some art journaling again - I might start with making a junk journal 'cause your video is so inspiring! Love from Holland, Marit #19

ReplyDeleteYour junk journal is so amazing, Dorlene! I've just left you a comment and a thumbs up on your Youtube - I just love how you used another journal to blot it off! How awesome is that... I love no waste, recycling, making art from junk. Thank you for your lovely comment - sorry to be so long replying but we've been so busy and in between I've been very tired and had to rest, so it's taking me a while to catch up with everybody. Thank you for your kind words!!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated WOYWW,

Happy Belated WOYWW and for your earlier visit. I will have a look at your YouTube tomorrow - a bit late in the evening now, and we are watching the Tour de France highlights. Starting a junk journal is also on my To Do list. Once autumn hits, then I will be in my craft room a lot more. At the moment I just want to get out in the sunshine. I am using a real mix of stash in my planner (new blog post on Monday showing my pages for the week) - freebie printables, cut up sticky notes, washi tape and some embellies from my crafty stash. I also want to get some stickers designed myself. I had some sticker paper delivered today, so I 'plan' to try it out soon. Ali x #21
ReplyDeleteI apologize for visiting so late, Dorlene. My slow internet that my provider can’t seem to help me with, along with a visit from three young people has culminated with a cough, chills, sweats, and sore throat that my friends believe is the flu. This may seem like a cop-out, but I believe in visiting everyone, or I shouldn’t be playing. I appreciate you understanding.
ReplyDeleteI checked out your junk journal. It is awesome. I sew images (paper to paper) together, where you tend to use more paint. I don't write in mine, I just make them and give them away. I was SO impressed with the amount of work you put into each page you paint.
I was also in awe of your ICADs. Yours are much more detailed than mine. I am in awe that you use a lot of stamped sentiments in yours, too. I post every Monday because I'm also playing in I Hannah's 365 Something, too. Happy very belated WOYWW from # 4.
HI Dorlene! How did I not know you have a youtube channel?! LOL I got it on my watch list now. Love your pages. I love making something from things others throw away. Creative Blessings! Kelly #31
