Cute Print Then Cut Tags

I know Easter had passed but I still wanted to share these simple print then cut tags that I made.

I used Spring Llama SVG from Printable Cuttable Creatables and a tag shape from Basic Shapes in Cricut Design Space.

I explain how to create your design and turn it into a print then cut file. Use a circle shape to cut a hole in the tag by using the attach function.

Watch how easy it is on my YouTube video:

I love the tulle for my ribbon of choice and then tied it with twine.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #392

It's Friday and another week to be thankful! This week I'm thankful for the start of the Christmas season. I had a busy week with friends and other activities and for that I'm thankful. I'm especially thankful for the paint night I hosted on Tuesday and my family and friends that support my crafty craziness.

What are you thankful for this week?

Baby Shark Cake Topper

Jhené is two doo doo doo doo! I'm sure the song is now stuck in your head. Sorry!

My granddaughter is two today and I decided to design and make a Baby Shark cake topper using the Cute Shark cut file from Printable Cuttable Creatables website.

It takes a little bit to design a cake topper and my advice is to start off with your base shape. For this topper, it's a circle ring.

Once that's determined, you just need to add the elements, offsets and sometimes, multiple cuts.

Can you see all the layers! I think that's key when putting it together.

You can check out my YouTube process video for a visual:

Party Treat Boxes; HP Themed

Well, you guessed it, you can't have a party without party favors! Since my granddaughter wanted a Harry Potter themed party, grandma honored her wishes.

Check HERE for the cake topper and take a look at these cute treat boxes!

The YouTube video shows how easy they are to design in Cricut Design Space. Use this idea to customize all your treat boxes in whatever theme you want!

Harry Potter Themed Cake Topper

Take a look at this cute cake topper I made for my granddaughter's 5th birthday. She wanted a Harry Potter themed party so this was perfect for it.

I honestly can't remember where I downloaded this SVG file, but I think it was from Auntie Taye's website. I was a member awhile back and I believe this is where I got it.

It was pretty easy to put together but of course I made a few tweeks. Check out the YouTube process video to see all the details!

Elmo Tote

My granddaughter loves Elmo and her first birthday is going to be all Elmo! I saw this tote on Design Space and I knew I wanted to recreate it. The problem is, I was able to cut all the pieces, but there were no directions.

The tote has four sections to add whatever you want. I'll probably fill with small gifts for her.

Hah! I've done enough paper crafts to figure it out, but you know what...I couldn't. I did put it together but I had to add extra tabs - it was a whole thing! I finally looked up the designer on YT and guess what!?! She has a channel with step by step instructions. Her channel is under her name, Louise Beauregard.

Oh well...next time!

This project took four pieces of burgundy cardstock (tote base & handle) and two pieces of white cardstock. I used a subtle pattern paper for the four sides. I purchased the Elmo cut file from Etsy and a freebie on Vectplace. I need to remember to check their first. Their SVGs are awesome! I was a little disappointed in the purchased file because I had to do a lot of work with the SVG but if you'd like to know where I purchased, leave a comment and I'll let you know.

In the meantime, check out my quick video!

The Legend Cake Topper

I found an editable file in Cricut Design Space that was designed for a T-shirt but decided to change it a little and make it into a cake topper. I have not played with pens in the Cricut so instead of cutting each letter, I used the Print/Cut function for the words.

I added two offsets and stars to add more layers and to make it really pop. The thing with cake toppers is layers and more dimension! Watch my process YouTube video to see how I completed it.

Hubby sure does love chocolate cake, we knew for sure we'd have one of those AND a cake topper is the best way to dress a store bought cake up!

I have this file in Cricut Design Space and you should be able to edit the years and words. Get the file HERE

Hubby goes by OWO as his "grandpa" name. When asked what he wanted to be called as a grandparent, he said, "Old Wise One". So, OWO for short and so much better! Let me tell you, it is so cute when the granddaughters call him that.

Birthday Witch Cake Topper

For those of you that love Halloween throughout the year, you'll appreciate this cake topper I made for my daughter's friend. She is one of those people and I love her for it!

I designed this cake topper with one title in mind, but then changed it at the end. Both ways, it's adorable! You can find the file in Cricut Design Space. I added lots of foam adhesive between the layers, a wobbler on the witch and used clear transparency for the two bats that are floating outside the circle. (the transparency is sandwiched between two bats)

I love all the extra details that make this such a fun cake topper! Look at all that dimension!

Note that the purple glitter paper is the type that is embedded into the paper. There will not be any loose glitter on the cake!

Easter Chick Cake Topper; Printable Cuttable Creatables

When I saw the Easter Chicks cut file E596 on the Printable Cuttable Creatables website, I knew I needed to do something with it. These little chickies are so adorable! I decided to make a cake topper for Easter. After designing the topper in Design Space, I cut all the pieces and started assembling them.

I love to use a lot of foam adhesive for dimension on my cake toppers as shown here.

Before adding the chicks to the banner base, I needed to decide which were going to be adhered flat and which were going to have more dimension.

I added a stamped "Happy Easter" sentiment to the banner to add more color and of course wish everyone a Happy Easter!

Love Birds Tote; Printable Cuttable Creatables

I know Valentine's Day is over, but that doesn't mean I can't show my love for books every day of the year.  I'm working with the Love Birds cut file from the Printable Cuttable Creatables website and it is a super cute one!

I uploaded the cut file into Design Space and then added it onto the canvas.  I noticed that there was a black base included in the cut file but since I am using HTV for this project, I ungrouped and then deleted the black base & square.

I ungrouped the hearts from the birds to add them as the title. Typed "To Read" using the text option and moved them to the middle of the birds versus the top.

Once all the pieces were cut, I layered them as they should be adhered and then brought the tote bag & all the vinyl to my heat press station. It went from this:

To this:

Do you love it? I can't wait to use this tote at my next book club meeting and next library visit!

Check out the quick YouTube video to see how it came together! Be sure to use 3SONS15 for 15% off your order. Honestly, the prices are so good, you don't really need one!

Valentine's Day Project

Happy Valentines Day! My daughter and I decided to have a Valentine's Day dinner for the girls and the rest of our family. We bought printed hearts plates, napkins, cups, and a tablecloth. We're going all out! I mean, why not?!?

I bought some store bought stuffed squishees, ordered beautiful cookies from a friend's small business and wrapped candy bars from another friend's small business to put in a cute container, but you know it needed some kind of decoration for it. Out comes the Cricut!

I searched images in Design Space for a Valentines pennant and found two that I liked. I duplicated one & changed the colors so all three would be different. To make things easier, I decided to Print then Cut these pennants since my craft room is in the middle of an updo and I can't find anything (including my desktop)!

I printed these on white cardstock, attached them to wooden dowels and added a bunch of ribbons to them too!

I'm really happy how these turned out! What do you think?

Cookie Board

I’m showing off something a little different today. I made a cookie board for my work holiday luncheon and I decided to film it. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve fallen in love with charcuterie boards and have made some really nice ones!

I don’t always post on my blog, but I always post on my Instagram account. Find me @3sons_and_astar

Here’s some photos but make sure you watch the video!

No need to shop at fancy stores. I bought all these at my neighborhood grocery stores.

T-shirt Fun

I needed to make some shirts for our "13 going on 30" themed birthday party for DD and GD1 this weekend. We put on the invitation that you should dress as either your 13 year old or 30 year old self.

I chose my 13 year old self which meant 1977 and hubby decided to go with his 30 year old self which was 1990.  I ran out of black vinyl which actually worked out since his shirt looked so good with the white vinyl. And thank goodness for scraps, because I had enough of a scrap to make the letters for my shirt.

And after placing an order on Wednesday for vinyl (since they were 50% off), I received it Saturday morning - pretty impressive Cricut!

Here are our shirts and a photo of us together. I couldn't take a good picture to save my life, but it's all good.

Fun! I just love the tube socks and we realized that Converse was a staple in every decade!

If you decide to make yourself a shirt, be sure to mirror your mats before cutting!
