ICAD 2019; Week Four

Another fun week of index cards for the ICAD 61 day challenge!

If you want additional information on what I used or how I used it, let me know in the comments.

The best thing about this challenge is that you can start anytime. Sure, it's meant to go from June 1st through July 31st, but the first two years I started in August since it was more convenient for me. And honestly, when it's an informal challenge you can start (and end) anytime you want - follow the prompts or not. It's meant to be fun so if you're thinking of doing something like this...jump in!

Click on over to Daisy Yellow to read more about it and get the daily prompts. I hope you join in!

JJ Pages, ICAD Challenge and TGIF; Thankful Friday #92

I've said it before, the ICAD challenge is so fun but what makes it more fun is that I continue the creativity to my Junk Journal.

When working on the index cards, I'll use the leftover paint, inks, etc., and use them on a Junk Journal page. I may not completely finish the page at that time, but building up the goodies is fun!

Here are some of the pages I've played with recently:

And, I thought I'd show off this page again. It's one of my favorites...
At the end of all this, I don't want to forget my TGIF; Thankful Friday post. This week I'm thankful for time in the Command Center. It's so wonderful to spend time up there and just relax. Playing with the different mediums while participating in the ICAD 61 Day Challenge is so fun and a de-stressor.  I'm thankful for the stress release of playing.

New Toy & Review

I've said before that I don't usually jump in when a new gadget comes along especially when it involves a lot of moola. Well, I purchased a new toy a couple of weeks ago.

This was under $20 on Scrapbook.com so it wasn't a huge investment, but I gotta tell ya, I love it! The base is a thin but sturdy 12x12 metal piece so it'll be perfect for on the go as well as in your craft area. The four strong magnets are included as well as the magnetic ruler.

I have been using it when creating my index cards but I'm really excited to bring it along to our upcoming ROAD TRIP.

Even though it is easy to clean, I put a piece of scrap paper underneath to catch the ink and extra paint from my projects.

WOYWW #525

Happy Hump Day and Happy WOYWW! Wednesdays I get to show you what's on my work desk via the WOYWW linkage at Stamping Ground. Go and check out all the other deskers!

My desk this morning:

I had to cover up the main project since it's for an upcoming project for BBTB2 Design Team that I'm on. Check it out if you have a die cutting machine. The DT projects are fabulous if I do say so myself.

Ok, back to my desk...I cleaned my work area which usually means about a 14" square area. To the right, I still have my wedding album embellies (almost done with it) and to the left are my cutters, papers, and mats for the project that I'm currently working on. HINT: it's a baby project. We're having a surprise Diaper Party for one of my coworkers next week. I'll post about this project on July 8th.

At the top of my work area is my tool holder, adhesives, etc.

Be sure to click over to Stamping Ground to take a peek into our craft rooms. Messy or clean, link your own too!

Summer Fun; BBTB2 Challenge

The current challenge at the Bitten By The Bug 2 (BBTB2) challenge site is...Summer Fun! The possibilities are endless with this challenge theme. In fact, I have many summer projects on the horizon using my Cricut but I decided to chose this one since I just completed it over the weekend.
Hubby and I decided to make a directional sign for our backyard. We had a couple examples pinned on Pinterest since we both liked the idea. If you follow my blog, you know we're big sports fans so we wanted to use the team "fields" to highlight and the other four locations are special to us for various reasons; UC Santa Cruz is where one son is attending college, my mom and sister live in Tucson (and soon our favorite uncle), daughter & I love to shop at Joann Fabrics (I mean who doesn't?) and lastly hubby's favorite vacation spot...Las Vegas (also where another son got married).
I made stencils using my Cricut & vinyl scraps. I created SVG files for some of the logos but most were created using my Cricut and system fonts. Originally I was just going to hand paint the lettering, but I'm so glad I decided to make stencils instead....I mean, isn't that why I have the Cricut? To use it as much as possible?

Here are the completed slats:

And another side of the completed project:

Some process photos:

Isn't this so much fun! I love how we used different colors for each of the slats and they are so bright against the black base.

One thing to note: my hubby is not crafty...lol...he's been working on our backyard and this definitely personalizes it. He was the one to tap my shoulder and say..."let's do this!" so how could I say no.

Fonts Used:
Shark Tank - Show Card Goth
Stadium - Bernard MT Condensed
Tucson - Jokerman
Home of the Giants - Stencil

TGIF; Thankful Friday #91

FRIDAY!
This week I'm thankful for pizza! Have I told you that we have a Friday Night Pizza tradition that is over 25 years? Sometimes I think...I'm sick of pizza! But I am not sick of our traditional Friday Night Pizza time.

We have six pizza joints in our town. Is that a lot? I wonder what the average ratio is...either way, I hope you get to enjoy some pizza this weekend!

WOYWW #524

Hi there deskers. Happy WOYWW!

It's time for a POP UP Shop of my handmade cards. I bring the cards to my work at least twice a year. My coworkers are my loyal customers so I like to bring them in and it lessens my full box.

It's probably stupid, but I don't like to leave them here. I like to have a "POP UP" event so it draws excitement and (usually) more purchases.

So on my desk today is the card box full of cards. I like to go through them to make sure things are still stuck where they should be, etc.

Be sure to click over to the Stamping Ground to take a peek into other craft areas and share what's on your desk this Wednesday.

Wedding #2 Scrapbook Layouts

As you know, I'm working on my son and DIL's wedding album. Layouts are now in the reception party phase which means I'm almost done with the album.

Here are a couple of sneak peeks:

I used my Cricut a lot for this album especially for the titles. I also have been inspired by RTS who is a YouTuber that I love. Janet, hosts a lot of challenges and it's been fun listening and watching her videos. If you get a chance, check her out. Her channel, RTS, stands for Record The Story.

The wedding color was Rose Gold and I had a heck of a time finding wedding themed embellishments with that metallic. Most are silver or gold...but I did find some. Pink, Black, White and Rose Gold...so pretty!

TGIF; Thankful Friday #90

FRIDAY!
This has been an uneventful week, but I am still thankful for many things. Here are my Top 5:

1. Air Conditioning (our temps have been over 100 all week)
2. Face Time (got to talk to my mom while she's in Utah, RVing with my sis)
3. Libraries (awesome to be able to borrow books for our Summer Reading Marathon)
4. Gracie, our dog (who constantly keeps us entertained)
5. Frito Pies (who came up with that delicacy?!) and my DIL who had the urge to eat it!

Enjoy your week and wherever you are, I hope you're not getting overheated!

Junk Journal Pages

I'm in the middle of the ICAD 61 day challenge and have pulled out my Junk Journals as well. I hate wasting all the left over mediums and supplies for just one project, so as I'm completing the index card, I'm also completing or at least contributing to a junk journal page.

If you want to see my index cards, click on the ICAD label. This post is of a few pages I recently worked on in the Junk Journal.

The sentiment is from a "Harry Potter" themed stamp set my daughter gave me for Mother's Day. Quote from Dumbledore.

I LOVE the background on this!

Some photos of the process and goodies I used:

Elements 1 Stamp Set designed by me! There are three total by Bloom Art Stamps.
Handmade stencil for the Day 7 challenge
You know I saved that stencil for future projects. In fact, I love the way the stencil looks with the inks on it. LOL I can probably just place that somewhere in my  junk journal. Hmmm...now ideas are floating in my head. Look for that one soon!
