I'm not sharing my desk today but one of my newest Junk Journal spreads.
At the beginning of the year, you hear/read all about people selecting a word to guide their year whether it's a goal or mantra or muse or whatever. I’ve never really given that a thought before since I'm usually all over the place. But with my goal this year to send at least one handmade card a week, I decided to select a word...CONNECT.
When playing in my Junk Journal this weekend and some inspiration from my daughter, I made this page:
A close up:
I adhered these KENO slips (yes, I keep everything) to the page before adding teal, blue, and fuchsia acrylic paint to cover the page.
Then I used multiple paint pens to write the word “connect” all over. Once I was happy with the coverage, I embellished some of the words with dots, lines, shadows, etc. It’s such a fun page!
What about you? Do you pick a work for your year? If you do, let me know in the comments.
Great job Dorlene, love the journal page. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X
ReplyDeleteHi Dorlene, your Junk Journal spread is certainly colourful. I love the word you chose - Connect - it really is something we should all do more of. I don't choose a word each year. I did establish some new priorities for myself 3 years ago, and the main one was to see more of my siblings, and I'm so happy we do now. Have a lovely week Heather xx #21
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW. I actually selected a Word For the Year myself and then one of those apps selected a different one for me. However, I can only remember one of the words, and that is Enjoy. Not done any journaling with it so far, but eventually I will. Ali x #25

ReplyDeleteHi Dorlene. Well done - a great challenge to yourself. I'm sure the people who receive your cards will love them. No, I don't set myself a word for the year, and I don't make new year resolutions - I can't decide if I am too lazy or too busy to do them...
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Love the journal page Dorlene. Right up my street and the mix of lettering styles is fabulous. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #13
ReplyDeleteFabulous journal page, I love the bright zingy colours. I don't choose a word for the year, knowing me I'd be changing it every week!
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm so late visiting, I can't believe I'm still going round desks but life is taking me over at the moment!
