I am really excited about this challenge since Halloween is one of the most fun holidays for crafters. I haven't really gotten into Halloween in years, but it is so fun to see little ones in costumes and all the fun decorations around. If you haven't guessed it already, the current two week challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2 (BBTB2) is...Halloween.
I decided to make this decorated Starbucks cup for this challenge. I got the free skeleton silhouette SVG from Caluya Design. There's also a male silhouette available.
Isn't she so cute...I mean scary?! Eek, right?
Ok...a few things. If you use the different vinyls, you know that for HTV you should mirror the images. Well, I guess I was in a HTV mindset because when I cut these out, I mirrored them. For most of the cuts, it was fine but I did have to recut the "eek".
Also, I follow an IGer @brandhustle_reneerivera and she posted this GREAT idea earlier this week. You know those empty cardboard rolls that the vinyl comes on? Well, cover them with pretty paper (she used contact paper - I used scrapbook paper) and then cut a rectangle out of a piece of paper (I used the same one) and attach the rolls to create a "V" shape. This will hold your cup when applying vinyl. I hope my description makes sense. It's really that simple!
Game changer! Am I right?
Now it's your turn, create a Halloween themed project using your Cricut. Be sure to include how you used your Cricut in your description and link it to the BBTB2 site before the challenge ends on October 9th. Have fun!
Dorlene! super great tip! and your cup is awesome! I love to see non paper Cricut projects. You rocked this!

That is a really fun design and I love how you put a design all around the cup. I have so much vinyl, but hardly ever use it.
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a fun and festive cup! It is so nice that you included the directions on how to do it.
ReplyDeleteGreat image. I’m always “what can I do with that image”. Spooky cute.
ReplyDeleteMuch cooler than the Starbucks logo!!!! Or rather, scarier, lol!!!! Great tip for how to hold the cup too!

One of my favorite crafts is to decorate my Starbucks cup for the season and yours is super cute (I mean scary!). Thanks for the great tip to prevent rolling- I am going to try that for my Christmas cups!
