TGIF; Thankful Friday #390

Hi there and happy Thankful Friday! It's another week to be thankful. This week I'm thankful for our trip to Disneyland. It was rainy but we still had a great time celebrating my granddaughter's birthday.

So fun!  What about you? What are you thankful for this week?

Sunflowers and Cowboy Hat Box Card

I love this box card! I purchased the cut file from My Scrap Chick along with many others. I finally decided to make it but couldn't find the instructions. She normally has them on the site, but it wasn’t there.

Now, once I put it together, I decided to add a label to the front so I could decorate it more and put an oval in the back for a greeting.

I made these with my Cricut.

That's ok because I figured it out. It wasn't actually pretty easy. I thought I should film it, just in case I need help later!

So here is the video:

And more photos:

Isn't this fantastic?!?  I can't wait to make more!

Christmas Eve 2023

I guess it's great timing that I'm working on Christmas photos right now. Of course these are from the past, but it works for me!

I used papers and stickers from the Sleigh Bells Ring collection from My Minds Eye from 2014! I love that some things never go out of style!

Watch the YouTube process video to see what I did to create this two page layout spread.

It's actually pretty easy. Each side has three of the same patterned papers. For the left side, they are cut at 3x9 and the right side are 3x12. I layed them down in the same order so the layouts flow.

I added a photo mat to the group photo, otherwise I just adhered the photos directly to the patterned papers.

I did get a little creative by cutting and adding paper fishtail banners just to jazz it up a little.

Easy, right? Just like I like it especially when I'm still behind on my scrapbooking!

Create It Three Ways

Hi there. I'm participating in an Instagram hop called Create It Three Ways. We basically create cards using the same products but three different ways.

I'm using an old Stampin Up! stamp set with fall images. Before I start stamping them to the card fronts, I'll create masks for them. This makes it easier to stack the images on top of each other without the other images showing.

Watch the process as I try to explain that.

I am coloring them three different ways using three different coloring medium.

Aren't they so pretty?!?

TGIF; Thankful Friday #389

Hi there and happy thankful Friday! It's another week to be thankful. This was a weird week since there was a holiday on Tuesday. I always thank veterans this week. I have lots of family members who are veterans including my hubby.

But that’s not what I'm thankful for this week. This week I'm thankful for granddaughter time since we're going to be joining 4H. I'm hoping it'll be a fun experience for my middle granddaughter and I.

They had activities for the kids which she loved. Of course we knew some people there and that always makes things a little easier.

We're also leaving to Disneyland today celebrate her sixth birthday. I'll report more on that next week!

What are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Center Flip Card; PCC

Hi there, I'm here to share a fun Center Flip Fun Fold Card using the Cute Fall Crow SVG from Printable Cuttable Creatables. Even though this SVG has many pieces, it was easy to put together.

As always, I lay the pieces together first before I add adhesive. This makes things a little easier for me and less mistakes. But because of all the layers, there was a large gap between the larger pumpkin and the grass. I don't know if you can see it in this photo, but putting a piece of foam adhesive was too thick, so I improvised.

I cut a small strip of the orange cardstock scrap and then folded it in half. This is similar to two pieces of cardstock which is the exact thickness of the large pumpkin and the grass.

I tucked and adhered it between the gap and it filled it perfectly and gave the small pumpkin a place to rest.

I tried to take photos, but it's a little hard to capture. Once I did that, the SVG image was ready to be placed on the card flap.

Check out the YouTube process video to see how the card was assembled.

The card was made by using a standard A2 card base, 5.5x8.5 and scored at 4.25. I wanted the flap to be in the center, but I mistakenly cut 2.25” from the left side. Once I did that, I only cut 1” from the right side. (These cuts go from the bottom edge to the 4.25" score line.) Oops! But you know what? It worked out fine. In fact, I love that it’s not exactly in the center. I think it gives it more interest and character.

I cut one piece of patterned paper at 4x5.25 and adhered it to the inside of the card. The other pieces were cut at:

Cardstock 2x4; Patterned Paper 1 ⅞ x 3 ⅞ These are attached to the outside flap and where I adhered the Cute Crow image.

There’s also a 2x4 white piece on the inside, right behind the flap to put your greeting.

The Printable Cuttable Creatables website has lots of cute SVG cut files to choose from. Use coupon code 3SONS15 for 15% off your total order. While you're there, take a peek at the Blog where you'll find lots of inspiration from the DT.

National Holidays IG Hop

I try to participate in IG, blog and/or YouTube hops as much as possible. On IG, I have joined some amazing card makers in monthly National Holiday hops.

This month there is a holiday for sandwiches, happy hour and fast food to name a few.

Here are the cards I created.

Can you guess which card is for which holiday?

I don't always post on my blog so follow me on my instagram account.  @3sons_and_astar

Travel Junk Journal Spread

I tried something new in my Junk Journal today. I adhered lots of the random items that I collected from an eight day trip. Lots of JUNK!

I follow a few different people on IG and they adhere junk to their pages usually following a theme. I, of course, needed to art mine up!

Check out the YouTube process video:

Isn't this so fun!?! Even though I didn't originally like the ink blobs, they aren't so bad after all.

Close ups:

Is there really such thing as junk when it turns out this cute?

Christmas Eve Layout

I went to a scrapbook crop this past Saturday and was able to finish lots of layouts. That’s always a good feeling.

I'm still behind but I think we're always behind, right? I just posted a two page layout spread on YouTube using a sticker sheet by Echo Park along with a scrapbook kit that I made by gathering patterned papers and cardstock from my stash.

If you're like me, you have lots and lots of papers that will coordinate with sticker sheets or other embellishments. We just need to remind ourselves that we don't need all the things!

I used a sketch for this that I've used before which made this quick to put together. Although I did change the patterned paper a little. I also used my Cricut to create the title on the left. Using an assortment of fonts makes it super fun!

I love the non traditional color scheme too!

Be sure to watch the process video and leave a comment. I love reading them.

Waterfall Gift Card Holder

Being on a Design Team has its perks but what I really enjoy about it is the challenge to make something spectacular. I hope when you see my projects that you can tell how much heart is in them.

When I received this Kaisercraft Christmas Wishes stamp set from Jenlee Schoolcraft, my first thought was ok I'll make a Christmas card but then it came to me. I'm going to make a gift card holder and use the beautiful poinsettia stamp to decorate.

Watch the process on my YouTube channel:

I stamped the poinsettia four times using red ink; colored the leaves using an alcohol ink marker and gold glitter marker. I also added Stickles in gold glitter to add more sparkle and dimension!

To give credit where it's due, I watched a video by Stamp With Peggy and got the measurements from her blog too. Please visit her site to get all the measurements.

While you're scrolling through the internet, make sure you also visit the Jenlee Schoolcraft website for budget friendly new and used crafty items. And if you use my name, Dorlene, you'll get 10% off your order. Can't beat that!!

Bouquet Painting; LTCCB

It's November 1st and time for another six week challenge on the Love To Craft Challenge Blog (LTCCB). This challenge blog is for all sorts of crafty projects not just paper.

I decided to paint a canvas and create a flower bouquet. It went through a few stages before I finally decided it was done.

Adding black around the flowers made the colors really pop and I was happy with that addition. Here's when I thought I was done and my granddaughter even added some paint splotches.

Wow! What a difference! It just goes to show, if you're not happy with something, keep at it. Eventually you'll love it!

Now it's your turn. Create something...anything and upload it on the LTCCB blog. It's always Anything Goes. Click there for lots of inspiration from the DT and the other crafters!
