TGIF; Thankful Friday #367

Happy Friday and another week to be thankful. This week is a little harder to find something to be thankful for. My mom is not doing well. She is in hospice comfort care and may not make it another week.

I've seen her pretty often these past months (she lives out of state) and I know I don't want to be there when she passes but it's really hard not to be.

She'll be 89 this year and is one tough cookie. She's so strong and so silly. People are drawn to her.

March Events 2023

I love making Month in Review layouts for the one off events or everyday photos that we take. I fit 12 photos on this two page spread!

Watch how it was created on my YouTube channel:

I know there aren't many embellishments but sometimes a layout doesn't need them. What do you think?

Sassy Card with Seguras Crafts

The sentiments on this stamp set from Seguras Crafts are so fun and sassy and certainly paired well with the Villianous Bombshell colored dies I recently purchased from the Stamp and Scrapbook Expo. I love it when I use my purchases sooner rather than later!

I used a piece of patterned paper from my stash and my oval cutter to create the background for this sassy card. Some sparkling rhinestones and glitter pen faux stitching adds just enough sparkle to the card!

Be sure to watch the process video for all the details:

Painting Flowers

One thing led to another when I started this painty project!

I do not like wasting paint so out comes the junk journal! I love the final spread. Look how fun it is when you're having fun!

Fun letter addition to the Command Center and a cool inspiring spread for the junk journal

TGIF; Thankful Friday 366

TGIF and Happy Thankful Friday. I was just reminded that I haven’t posted my Thankful Friday post in a couple weeks. I have lots to be thankful for but I'm going to narrow it down to being thankful for my backyard and the plants that are growing, blooming and staying alive!

Here are some photos I took last night and this morning

It's so cool to see results of my hard work!

What are you thankful for this week?

Using Lots of Patterned Paper Layout

I grabbed all of my Valentines themed patterned papers for this multi-paper layout. I cut them into strips of 1 1/2" widths and adhered to the black background paper. I was loosely following this sketch.

My original thought was to load it with a variety of Valentines themed stickers on the right side but it just wasn't turning into anything I liked. There was no rhyme or reason to the sticker placements and it was just yucky!

Then I saw this layout and knew I needed to add a couple of circles to ground them.

Take a look at the process video to watch how I figured it all out!

Sometimes it's a good idea to push things aside and then look at it with fresh eyes!

Hey crafty friends, I'm participating in a Blog Hop with all the design team members at Printable Cuttable Creatables blog. Follow this link for all the blog and prize details and for a starting point:

https://www.printablecuttablecreatables.com/pcc-design-team-blog-hop-spring-2025

Or you can follow each hoppers' link below. To win the Wallet Prize, you must leave a comment on the main hop post with your favorite post from the hop.

The hop will remain open May 23rd to allow viewers a chance to participate. But if you're like me, take care of it now before you forget!

My project:
I am creating a graduation gift card holder which is so perfect for this time of year! We have multiple graduation parties to attend this year so these will come in handy!

I used all solid cardstock for them and used both black and white pens for extra details.  The cut file used is the Grad Cap Books Gift Card Holder file from Printable Cuttable Creatables website.

Once you upload the file into Cricut Design Space, you'll need to attach the gift card notches to the base and change the lines in the pocket from cut to score (attach).

As always, I layer the pieces together before adding adhesive so I know exactly where each piece is supposed to go. I used liquid adhesive for the most part but used both scor-tape and liquid adhesive for the pocket tabs for extra strength.

If you shop on the website, use code 3SONS15 for 15% off your order!

Don’t forget to hop along, leave comments and visit the blog for all the hop details.

Faux Postage Stamps Card; Jenlee Schoolcraft

Hey there. I'm showing off a really cool card in this post. You've probably seen this type but here's my version.

Now I've been heart-eying these faux stamp cards for awhile but haven't tried it since I didn't have the dies and/or stencil. Then I thought, hey I can probably make something with the Cricut! And I did. Here's the DS link

I'm using the Happy Thoughts stamp set from CTMH which is from the Jenlee Schoolcraft website. Check out the website for new and slightly used crafty products at budget friendly prices!

Watch the YouTube process video to see how it was done.

Besides the inking and stamping, I also added lots of white pen marks and black pen lines around the edges.

I am so happy with the end result and the black card base really makes it pop!

The Jenlee Schoolcraft website stocks a variety of supplies and many are retired and/or out of commission like this stamp set. If you use the discount code "Dorlene", you'll get 10% off your order!

Rainbow Crush YT Hop; Purple

I'm excited to share the layout I created as part of the Rainbow Crush YT Hop – a Social Media hop where we share projects that feature a color of the rainbow each month! Your layout should have at least 75% of the featured color. I seem to go all out!

This hop is hosted by Tara on her Facebook Group called The Paper Snob. This hop takes place on the  2nd Wednesday of the month!  The color for May is purple.

Purple was a bit of a challenge for me but I love the end result! I mostly used an old page kit that I almost got rid of earlier this year. With the addition of thick stickers from Simple Stories, a Cricut title and a scrap of purple cardstock on my desk, it all came together to showcase this solo photo of my favorite friends!

Check out my video here:

Here is the YOUTUBE PLAYLIST for this hop! All the videos in one place!

Father's Day Flap Card

Is it too soon for Fathers Day cards? Well I was playing with Father's Love stamp set from Seguras Crafts so now is a perfect time to create one.

This set has cute images and great sentiments that are perfect for this occasion. And add them to a fun fold card?  Yup, great final project.

Cut and score measurements:
Card base: 5 1/2 x 7 1/4 score at 4 1/4
Cardstock (same as base): 4 1/4" square scored at 1" and 1/2 x 5 1/4
White cardstock:  2 3/4 x 3 3/4 and 4 x 5 1/4
Patterned Paper: 2 3/4 x 5 1/4, 3 x 4, and 5/8 x 5 1/4

I also used Cloud of Hope 6x6 pad from Seguras Crafts

I didn’t use all the pieces that were cut on my card. You can find out why when you watch the process video:

Head over to Seguras Crafts and see what they are all about and then get yourself some great items!

TGIF; Thankful Friday #365

Happy Friday and another week to be thankful. This week went by so fast I barely realized that it was Friday. I'm thankful for good weather, a lot of crafty time and a new sticker from Dutch Bros. lol. I don't know why I'm so obsessed with them!

I hope you had a great week and you find something to be thankful for!

Gate Fold Pop Out Card; Jenless Schoolcraft Project

Wowzers! I received an envelope stuffed full of great things from Jenlee Schoolcraft! Check out my recent YouTube video because it starts as an unboxing and ends up with a process video making a really cool Gate Fold Pop Out card.

Cutting and scoring details:
Card Base: 8 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 2 1/8 from each side and 4 1/4"
Patterned Papers:  (6) 1 7/8 x 5 1/4"
Pop Out Mechanism: 1 x 5 1/8 scored at 1/2" from each side
Focal Point Holder: 1 x 3; scored at 1/2, 1, 2, and 2 1/2"

On the card base, use a bone folder to get a crisp crease on both of the 2 1/8" score lines but gently fold out the middle score line (this should be more subtle as it only needs to bend, not fold)

Adhere the patterned paper strips to the two front sides and all four sides in the inside of the card
Add strong adhesive to the two 1/2" tabs on the pop out mechanism and adhere to the center of the card
Fold in at the score lines for the focal point holder to make sure the two ends met in the middle. Add that to the center of the pop out mechanism.
Once the pop out element is created, add adhesive to the two tabs and place the element to that.

Watch the video for the process and see how I improvise a basic "tool kit" supply since I created this card while I was out of town.
