TGIF: Thankful Friday #49

Image result for 49ers

Well, well, well...I just have to be thankful for the San Francisco 49ers this week. Every opportunity to celebrate the number 49 is a good one!

This should be an exciting season for us this year. The last few have been heart breaking but we sure did leave with a bang at the end of last season! With Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm, we're excited for a new season to start!

Whether or not you're a 49er fan, the NFL season will soon be upon us and we'll all have the opportunity to cheer for our favorite teams and enjoy game time munchies!

Are you ready for some football?!?  YES, I AM!

Getting Inky With Quick Quotes

Hi there, I'm showing off my latest layout using the Premier Altered Kit from Quick Quote's June's Club Q.
I didn't have a need to make a mini-album but I loved all the elements of this kit. I decided to use the items to do a layout of a terribly printed photo of the hubby and me. We took this at a friend's birthday party (dress as your favorite celebrity). We were Ricky and Lucy Ricardo. It was a lot of fun but the thing is, the photo turned out horrible! I'm not sure what happened to the color but all the photos had this blue tinge to them. But the cool thing is that it coordinated perfectly with these patterned papers.

I'm usually pretty straight forward with my scrapbooking layouts, you know...photos, title, journaling and some embellishments, but I thought I'd get a little inky and messy this time.
Before adhering anything, I swiped Capri Blue, Key Largo and Tropical Punch PowderPuff Chalk Inks directly to the cardstock base. I alternated the three colors from the top to the bottom of the paper.

I cut my photo down to fit the pre-cut frame and then used each of the patterned papers to layer it. Before adhering the papers together, I inked the edges of each one with coordinating PowderPuff Chalk Ink.

The large white flower and both butterflies were inked with Tropical Punch as well to add some more color to the layout. It was getting to be too monochromatic and was not the look I was going for.
Before completing the layout, I added some sticky back pearls, woodgrain embellishments, a cork arrow and doily. The doily was inked with a little PowderPuff Chalk Ink as well.

I also added some black and white color splash & a script stamp here and there.
I love the way it turned out!

ICAD 2018; Week Four

Another week of ICADs...read more about the ICAD challenge by clicking on the ICAD label on the right or go directly to Daisy Yellow Art's website.

My cards for Week Four:

I love how my garden (last one) card turned out. Although I do grow bright pink hollyhocks, I sure do wish I had a white picket fence holding them back!

Prompt #26 was meerkat and I didn't know what it was until my daughter told me it was Timon from Lion King. I didn't draw the figures, I found an image on line and then sized it super tiny. Love it!

FCCB #329; Patriotism

Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog's current challenge is...
Challenge #329-Patriotism
Make a project that symbolizes patriotism in any country!

This Weeks Sponsor

Dreaming Tree SVG's

The winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate!

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

Here is my project-

I made these three “lanterns” in Red, White & Blue. I love making 3D projects and this one was perfect. We don’t do a lot for the 4th of July - mostly stay home and watch our dog. She gets so freaked out over all the fireworks but I like to decorate my office space. I thought these three would look great hanging from the hook in my cubicle.

I used the Home for the Holidays - Spring & Summer cartridge for them. Aren’t they cute! I can see me using this in all sorts of color combinations!

Now it’s your turn! Add your patriotic project to the linkage!

ICAD 2018 Week Three

My home TO DO list keeps growing but all I want to do is spend time in the Command Center. I know many of you feel the same way - COE (Crafting Over Everything)!

The ICAD challenge is in full effect over here and I love that no matter how busy I am, I am still devoting some time every day to create something.

To read more about the ICAD challenge, click on over to the Daisy Yellow Art site for all the details, themes and prompts. You can start anytime!

Here are my cards for Week 3:

Most of the ICADs this week used something from Rubber Paws. I guess that's my underlining theme when I participate in this challenge.

There are so many challenges that go on throughout the year. I've seen 100 day type challenges but that just seems like such a long commitment. Whatever works for you, I do hope that you try to participate in one. If nothing else, it helps you realize what you have in your stash and what you really do need.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #48

If you follow me pretty regularly, you know that my daughter and I compete in a Summer Reading Marathon every summer. Well, during this time, we go to the local library A LOT.

This week I'm thankful for the library and the whole idea of borrowing books for free. What a concept! And a bonus this week, they were having a free  Miniature Teacup Garden class.  All the instructions and materials were free. So I left there with a bag full of books and a completed fun project.

I've wanted to do one of these with my granddaughter but didn't want to purchase a bunch of stuff not knowing what I needed or wanted so this class gave me some insight and great tips on creating my own.

I can't wait to make one with my favorite girl.

Having Fun With Club Q

Hi there, this month I'll be making some fun cards using one of the June Quick Quotes Club Q kit projects. The projects included in the Club Q kits are fabulous but if you find one you don’t have a need for, you can always create your own projects.

This is the contents of one of the project kits that I’ll be using today:

I love the colors and all the embellishments so tried to use as many of them as I could. You'll see that I used one sheet of the 12x12 pattern paper, the yellow strip and red patterned paper.

First thing I did was cut the 12x12 piece into four 4 x 5 1/4 pieces and inked with Lipstick PowderPuff Chalk Ink. I cut the left over strip into four 3 x 4 pieces and used the backside. I inked those with Light Moss PowderPuff Chalk Ink.

I then cut the yellow strip into 3” pieces and inked the edges with Sandy Shore PowderPuff Chalk Ink. I also stamped the sentiment directly on the strips using Cool Gray PowderPuff Chalk Ink.

I stamped the frog image directly to the paper for placement.
These are the PowderPuff Ink pads that I used

  • Added ink around the frog image with Sandy Shore PowderPuff Chalk Ink to create a shadow and base for the frog.
  • Punched a starburst from clear vellum
  • Gathered black thread and use the enamel dots from the kit to adhere it down.
  • Included in the kit is a cardstock piece with tags so I punched them all out and used the left over piece to cut 4” pieces and punched the edge with a notebook punch to add some more color and interest.
  • Stamped the frog image with onto white cardstock and colored the image with Cactus and Light Moss PowderPuff Chalk Inks and then fussy cut and adhered to the card with 3D foam dots.

I think they turned out so cute! The sentiment is perfect for any occasion.

Quick But Stunning Cards; Using My Stash

I was moving this to find that and realized I have so many things that I never use. Yes, I know...we all do, but I decided to actually do something about it this time!

I've had these die cuts F O R E V E R and I finally used them!
They are 3D vintage and punny die cuts and are super cute!

Watch the video on how they were put together, then make your own!

All the finished cards:
Close ups:
Punched hearts were added to hide the ink spotch

Then I realized that they are actually Pop Ups - which makes them so much more fun!

Isn't it cool what some gelli prints, washi tape and some splatter can do? Remember, you can always use patterned paper, solid paper or whatever you have for the background and any die cut will work for the focal point.

I hope this encourages you to go through your stash and use stuff!

TGIF; Thankful Friday #47

Friday, Friday...oh I am so happy to see you! It's been a hot summer week here in Central CA. The AC been cranking high and so is my utility bill.

This week I am thankful for the ICAD 2018 61 day challenge. It is such a fun challenge and really gets my creativity flowing. Read my past posts on the challenge by clicking on the ICAD label to the right. I just ended Week Two and have many weeks left.
I hope you all get a little inky and creative this weekend!

ICAD 2018 Week Two

Week Two of the ICAD challenge is done...now to Week Three.  To learn more about the Daisy Yellow Art ICAD (Index Card A Day) challenge, click on over to her website.

Each day, you do something creative on an index card. The site offers daily prompts and themes but you don't necessarily need to follow them. But they are a great help if you catch creative block.

Here are mine for week two:
Truck stamp is from Stampin' Up!

Cactus stamps are from Fun Stampers Journey

That fun stamp was gifted from Rubber Paws

Sentiment from Rubber Paws

It's hard to tell, but I used a lot of FSJ color silk splashes!

Sentiment from Rubber Paws, Circles are my design with Bloom Art Stamps Elements

You'll notice I was gifted a lot of stamps and other supplies from Rubber Paws. That was so many years ago and read more about it HERE and HERE. I realized while creating my ICADs that I use her stamps more during this time than any other. I especially love all her snarky sentiments.
