WOYWW #530

Happy Wednesday! My desk is actually clear since I'm between projects, but this morning I pulled out the completed wedding album to add a photo and grabbed a paper bag album that just sold from my Etsy shop - so I snapped a photo for the WOYWW link. What's WOYWW, you ask? Click on over to Stamping Ground and let Miss Julia explain it to you.

Here's my desk:
I'm going to do a video flip through of the album before I give it to my son and DIL so if you're interested in that, check back in a few days or so.

Happy WOYWW and have a blessed week!

Sketch-N-Scrap Challenge

I’m on a roll with scrapbooking this weekend! I’m so behind and it was so fun to create some layouts and sort of catch up

I am following a sketch on the Sketch-N-Scrap challenge blog for this fun Halloween layout.
I’m going through my piles and piles of scrap kits that I’ve made in the past and had tons of Halloween papers & embellishments. I wanted to use as many as I could and then I purged a lot of small scraps. These photos are from my work’s Halloween costume contest. Not very scary, but a lot of fun!

Stick It Down July Challenge

Love this Halloween layout of my granddaughter. She looks so adorable in her costume and I’ve been waiting to do a starburst layout. I used Halloween scraps for each “starburst” so it was a win-win. I also gathered and used a bunch of embellishments that I had been hoarding as well.

Although there was no pink in the papers, I think the embellishments work well.

Click on over to the Stick It Down website for more challenges.  They host double page, single page and card sketches. A little something for everyone!

ICAD 2019; Week Seven & More

So...I took a little hiatus on Week Seven. I had so much to do when we returned from our vacation that I just couldn't fit in the ICAD challenge so instead of stressing about it - I put it on hold until the following week. But then the following week came and went and I still didn't create any index cards.

The great thing about this challenge is that it is what you make of it. So after thinking about it some more, I decided I was not going to complete the 61 day challenge and end it at 42 days.

The challenge, or at least to me, is about playing with products, experimenting, anti-stress and just fun. When I lost that feeling, I knew it was time to put it aside and make a decision. No need to stress about it...just don't participate any more this year.

Receiving this quote in my Daily Inspiration email sealed the deal for me:

Giving up doesn’t always mean you’re weak. Sometimes it means you are strong and smart enough to let go and move on. – Unknown

If you are interested in the ICAD challenge, click on over to the Daisy Yellow Art blog to find out more about it & to get the daily prompts. It really is a cool activity especially if you're in a rut or just need to spend some time with your art supplies.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #96

Awww...Friday. I'm so glad you're here! Another weekend with no specific plans - I love that! I do have some DT projects but those are fun responsibilities.

This Friday, I'm thankful for an event-free weekend.

Maybe I'll get hubby to go watch the new Lion King movie. I've been hearing good things and the original is one of my favs.

How about you? What are you thankful for this week? Let me know by leaving a comment below.

WOYWW #529

Happy Wednesday and Happy WOYWW! Today I get to share a picture of what's on my work desk with everyone. My desk is busy with the last of my son & DIL's wedding photos and papers. I'm almost done! I can't wait to give it to them.

If you click on over to Stamping Ground, you can read more about the WOYWW linkage and also take a peek into the other deskers' work areas. It's so much fun to see what others are working on!

I also wanted to share two more photos:

My other son and DIL are having a baby girl! They did their baby reveal on Sunday. Baby girl is due to arrive in November. Big sister is ready and excited!

Wild Whisper Designs Product Review

One of my crafty on-line friends is on the Design Team for Wild Whisper so I've seen the products but honestly just never really looked that closely. Now that I've "liked" their Facebook page, I get their regular posts. Well, I saw this line and knew I had to have it!

My daughter and I are always saying there isn't a good music line for concerts, well if that's a comment you also make...look no more...

This line is called Feel The Beat and it is fabulous! Take a peek:
Not only are these papers double sided, but they are a great weight! There's a double option and now I know why they offer it. I wish I would have bought two sets since I love both sides!

The second set of ephemera is from their Fandom Kit which is an unofficial Harry Potter line.

Check out their website and see the products yourself. They are fabulous!

BBTB2 Challenge: Banners

It's my turn to host the current two week challenge at the Bitten By The Bug challenge site. The challenge theme I chose is:  BANNERS.

Banners can be used for everything! They can be small on a card or scrapbook page or large for party décor. My son's goddaughter is having her first birthday this weekend so I made this photo/selfie frame for it. As you can tell, I had a lot of fun making it & it was a huge hit during the party!

It was really hard to take a picture of the frame itself since it's 3x4 feet. The cuts ranged from 10" to 3.5".

Details:
I purchased a cut file from Miss Kate's Cuttables of carnival snacks. She has the cutest SVGs and many of them are free. Check her website out here.

I also used the Nifty Fifties cartridge for the soda bottles, the Create-A-Critter cartridge for the animals, pedestals, peanuts & balls and an assortment of fonts for the letters.

This was the first time I looked for carnival-themed cuts and was happy to find out that I had a bunch in the Create-A-Critter cartridge.

The triangles for the banner were cut using the Art Philosophy cartridge. You could use basic shapes to cut them, but I liked the rounded corners on these triangles, plus the holes were already set.

Challenge:
Now it's your turn...don't forget to click over to the Bitten By The Bug site to join the challenge and to check out the DT projects. I am so in awe over the DT projects. Everyone is so talented!

Extras:
Here are a couple more things I made for the party:

Cake Topper (my first one):

Carnival Game (no Cricut cuts for this one):

TGIF; Thankful Friday #95

It is hard coming back to work after a vacation, but I am glad for the structure that going back to work brings. Last week I couldn't even remember what day it was or if I had paid my monthly bills, LOL.

So even though I hate getting up in the morning, I am thankful for coming back to work.

By the way, I'm on book number 13 and as of right now, ahead in the Summer Reading Marathon challenge!

ICAD 2019: Week Six

We were on a road trip and I still managed to make all my index cards. I brought an “art bag” but wasn’t sure if I would actually complete them...but I did!

Here are my cards for the week:

And while on the road, I found a kindness rock!

So cool!!

TGIF; Thankful Friday #94

Whew! Thankful for arriving home after our road trip! Home is such an awesome word. It is both a noun and an adjective and I'm thankful for both.

Anything But A Card; BBTB2 Challenge

The current challenge at the Bitten By The Bug (BBTB2) blog is ANYTHING BUT A CARD.

My mind started spinning with possibilities and as good luck has it, we are having a Diaper Shower for one of my coworkers later this month.  Since baby gifts are my favorite to make and give, I knew I was going to create something wonderful for them.

Diaper Showers are exactly what they sound like...we shower the new parents with diapers. Well, you know I couldn't just bring a plain ol' pack of diapers! Heavens NO!

I used my Cricut and the New Arrival cartridge to create the stork & tag. I can't take credit for the diaper bundle idea...I saw something similar on Pinterest and loved it - so much easier to make than a diaper cake.

To make the diaper bundle, you need a total of 15 rolled diapers for this project; 4 on the bottom layer, then 3, 2, 1 to build a pyramid. The pack I purchased has 30 diapers so I double rolled them. It takes 20 diapers for this bundle. I purchased some receiving blankets to wrap around the diaper pyramid and then tied it off with a ribbon.

I added additional receiving blankets to the bottom before wrapping it all up with a clear heat wrap bag from the Dollar Tree. I also bought that wonderful pink burlap ribbon from the Dollar Tree.

The stork was cut at 7 1/2" and the "it's a girl" tag at 2.5". I used a glitter pen to add some sparkle to the stork's wings and hatband. I also added an outlet to the hat so I could tie it onto the bundle without tearing it.

Now it's your turn...show us your project as long as it's not a card and link it to the BBTB2 challenge site. Be sure to let us know how you used your Cricut.

ICAD 2019; Week Five

Week Five and half way done with the 61 day ICAD challenge!

Here are my index cards:

As always, leave me a message if you have any questions regarding what product or technique I used for the cards.

I'm leaving on a week road trip today and brought supplies with me. I am hoping to continue the daily challenge, but we'll see...
