TGIF; Thankful Friday #377

Hello and happy Thankful Friday. Temperatures are still high, this was the first complete week back to school and our street got slurried.  Nope, I don't know exactly what that means because the street still looks the same if not worse.

This week I'm thankful for another sporadic day trip. Wednesday we took a drive to Elk Grove to the Sky River Casino.

I'm also thankful that neither hubby nor I are big gamblers. I mean it was nice and we had a good time, but I couldn't even imagine how poor we would be if we had this addiction.  In other words, we LOST.

We had drinks and lunch and I actually put on real clothes!

What are you thankful for this week?

Ready to Paint Canvas

This Doodle Mushroom Garden cut file from Printable Cuttable Creatables was perfect to add to a dollar store canvas using HTV. Once I uploaded the file, I removed the two complete images and kept the line drawn image.

I ungrouped the total image and played with the images to create two different groupings for two different canvases.

Once I knew which images were going to be on each canvas, I grouped all images except the butterflies, bottom aligned and then attached them. I wanted them to cut exactly as shown. But keep the butterflies unattached so they would be placed to fill the canvas.

Once they were cut and weeded, I used my Easy Press to adhere to the canvas.

I set the temp at 375 and pressed at 45 seconds twice for it to completely adhere to the canvas. Use a lot of pressure to ensure adhesion.

And, there was definitely an odor coming from it. It stung my eyes!

But the final result is worth it!

Easy process video is posted on YouTube:

Rainbow Crush YT Hop; Black and White

Welcome to Rainbow Crush – a Social Media hop where we share projects that feature a color of the rainbow each month! This hop is hosted by Tara on her Facebook Group.  Anyone is welcome to play along.  This hop takes place on the  2nd Wednesday of the month!  The color for August is black and white.

You can sign for the next month’s hop over on the The Paper Snob Community Facebook group:

This is my layout. I added purple to my otherwise black/white layout.

I also created the customized title using the Print then Cut function in Cricut Design Space. This is a great way to create your own custom title.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #376

Happy Friday and another week to be thankful. This week went so fast and I'm not sure why. The new school year started yesterday and we now have a high school sophomore and a kindergartner.

Hubby went fishing on Monday and caught a beautiful trout. I'm thankful that we both have friends and activities that keep us busy both separately and together.

What are you thankful for this week? Please share.

Scrapbooking Simple

I put together a two page layout spread and it was very easy and it didn't involve "all the things" which made me think to talk about basic scrapbooking.

How to create a simple layout and feel good about it. We get caught up with the need to emulate all these fancy layouts that sometimes we don't appreciate our own layouts.

Here's my two page spread using only the Baby Girl pack from Echo Park. It has everything you need except the basic cardstock.

There are seven 4x6 photos on the layouts.

This is a MUST WATCH video for tips and suggestions on building your layouts to have an eye pleasing layout.

Paper Piecing and Paper Dolls

Hi there. I have a fun slimline card that I'm showing off today. I rarely make slimline cards but I received an adorable Julie Nutting, Ava, stamp set from Jenlee Schoolcraft that was perfect for that size.

I don't know about you but I loved playing with paper dolls when I was a kid and this stamp set reminds me of those times.

I have a process video on my YouTube channel so check it out!

I stamped Ava on both a white piece of cardstock and a pink patterned paper; fussy cut the dress & headband; used alcohol markers for the hair, skin and shoes.

*A slimline card is 3.5 x 8.5" (7x8.5 and scored at 3.5")
Pink mat is 3.25 x 8.25 and white panel is 3 x 8"

You can find this stamp set at Jenlee Schoolcraft website along with other Julie Nutting stamps a budget friendly prices. She has new and slightly used products and all at affordable prices!  Use my name, Dorlene and get 10% off your order.

Lemon Slices in the Junk Journal

More mixed media fun in my Little Golden Book Junk Journal. This page already had the beautiful painty background and then I added three big yellow circles.

That started the motion for the rest of the spread.

I mention in the video Rubber Paws who was my sister's sister-in-law and the talent and gifts I received from her. Read more about her HERE.

Take a look at my desk. Lots of stuff everywhere! Do you have an art journal or a junk journal?

Watch me play with different supplies to complete the spread:

Birthday Box Card; PCC DT Project

I was so excited to see the Birthday Box Card SVG file on the Printable Cuttable Creatables website because I love a fun fold card. It just makes everything more special, and it was so easy!

Once I uploaded the file, the first thing I did was ungroup the image and concentrate on the parts that have score lines. In other words, the card base & pop up middle section. As for all SVGs with score lines, you must select the lines and change them from cut to score. Once you do that, you need to attach those score lines to the base. Hopefully the picture below gives you an idea of what I’m talking about.

The good news is that the cut file also comes with directions to assemble the card. They are really easy to follow!

I changed the colors to different shades of purple to customize the card and then clicked on the make button.

These are all the pieces laid out and ready to adhere. One thing to remember is to adhere the top panels upside down (if you’re using directional patterned paper) on the opposite side of the bottom papers. See below.

I used my bone folder to crease all the score lines on both the card base and the middle pop out section.

Add strong adhesive to the tab; fold the card on the second score line from the left edge; and line up the bottom edge to adhere.

The middle pop out section is similar. Two of the layered images are adhered on one side and the middle balloon cluster is adhered to the back side.

This design is so clever and eliminates any guesswork on image placement. It basically folds up into a Z shape. Again, use the bone folder to crease the score lines.

I’ve never seen an easy design like this. It’s so clever!

Add adhesive to the tabs (two on the left and one on the right) and place them in the middle of the card base.

The basic design is so cute and festive, and I just couldn’t stop there!

I decided to add a few more elements to the front to customize the card for my granddaughter’s 15th birthday. I used some elements from Cricut Design Space and added some sparkly glitter glue to really jazz it up!

I also added a blank white panel to the back (I used the same cut as the long back rectangle) so I could write a note.

Be sure to go to the Printable Cuttable Creatables website for all sorts of great SVG designs. If you use 3SONS15 for a coupon code at check out, you'll get 15% off your total order!

Bay Area Stadiums Layout

This 12x12 layout gives the illusion of two 6x12 layouts and I love it! I used Cricut Design Space to create the print then cut title and embellishments for this.

Print then cut allows me to use small details to images and make decorating my layouts quick and easy. Have you tried it?
