TGIF; Thankful Friday #220

Happy Friday! This week I'm thankful for time with my sewing machine. I just recently realized that I really don't like to sew anymore. You know there was a time when sewing was my Number 1 but those days are gone.

But, I recently made a memorial pillow and blanket for a dear friend/comadre that lost her son in December. I was emotional while making it and I think that's why I procrastinated so long to start it. I haven't given it to her yet, but she saw the photos and loved it.

The pieces were made from his t-shirts. I'm so glad I was able to make something for her & their family.

Guest Room Revamp II

It's funny because the reason I chose the Hawaiian theme for the Guest Room is because I had made some Hawaiian print curtains for my son years ago and I didn't want to toss them. Guess what? I decided I'm not going to use the curtains after all. The print is so busy, I feel they will clash with the bedspread I purchased.

I think that is hilarious!

I made these cute Hawaiian themed pillows using old pillow forms that hubby wanted to throw away and the Cricut. The dancers are from Design Space and the Aloha SVG was a freebie on the Pineapple Paper Company website HERE. The freebie is given once you sign up for her email list.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #125

Is it Friday? Wow, these days are rolling into one and the only thing that makes this Friday different is that it’s Good Friday.

This week I am thankful for our big house. We have a two story home with plenty of room for all of us to have our own space for our on-line meetings, classes and conversations.

If the weather would cooperate, we could even use the stage (Le LEAF) if needed.

LTCCB #40 Memory Bear

It's November 1st and time for another challenge at the Love To Craft Challenge Blog! As always, the theme is Anything Goes. We encourage you to create!

This month I made a memory bear for my son and DIL or should I say, my granddaughter. She's due any time and I knew I needed to make this for her. My dad passed away in 2013 and will never meet his first great granddaughter.

I'll be honest, it was tough. It took close to two months to convince myself to cut into his pajamas. But then I just took a deep breath and cut. I did a search in Pinterest that led me to PA Country Crafts.  This is a pretty basic sewing project and includes a pattern. The overall size is approximately 8" tall. Of course if you want to make it bigger, you can enlarge the pattern.

My mom will cringe when she sees the hack job I did with my hand sewing, but it's in the back so it'll be ok, right?

Here's a photo of the bear with the tag I placed on it for the gift. My parents are deaf and that's why I put the ASL I Love You sign on it.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #24 Homemade Christmas

This week I'm thankful for homemade Christmases. I am a part of a talented family. Every holiday we get to see the best in everyone's abilities.

Here are my contributions this year:

I have to admit, I didn't come up with the idea, it was on Design Space, but I did add my own spin on things. We placed the village behind all the lighted building on our side table.

DD has wanted me to make her a t-shirt quilt for years. I almost did it last year (cut out the squares & backing) but didn't get a chance to finish. Since she went to Disneyworld for four days, I decided to put it together. I made a rag quilt so it will come together quickly. Since the seams need to be wider, it's smaller than I hoped, but perfect for a lap quilt. She was so surprised!

On Christmas Day more handmade gifts were given. Sugar scrubs, candles, quilt, essence oil sprays and lots of baked goods!
