Feliz Cumpleanos; CutCardStock

I was given a challenge to create a Feliz Cumpleanos card when I asked a question on my IG account. What card should I make next?

Although I have created many birthday cards, this one was specifically using the Spanish sentiment. Since it was time for me to create a new project for the CutCardStock Design Team, I knew this card would be perfect for using multi-colored cardstock.

What did I do:
I found this easy background on the internet and gathered three different colored cardstock from my stash of CutCardStock papers. You'll need to grab four different pieces. One of mine was a fun yellow patterned paper from Stampin' Up! The colors from CutCardStock are Red Pepper, Granny Smith Green, Wedding Cake White and Black Licorice.
Once you select your papers, cut them into two sets of 2.5x3.75" rectangles. One set of those rectangles, cut diagonally from top left to bottom right and the 2nd set diagonal from top right to bottom left.

You'll noticed from the completed card that I switched the black & white pieces to Blast Off Blue. It just needed a more festive color!

Arrange the triangles into four background pieces as below:

I used Cougar Smooth White cardstock for the stamped focal image. It is not a "watercoloring" paper per se, but it has a nice weight and retains water well. After I colored the image with watercolor pencils and a water brush, I added some white pen highlights as well as gold glitter marker. With all that wet color, it did not warp! It also helps to place the images under a heavy object like a large acrylic block when drying.

I created a process YouTube video for you to enjoy:

There's so much to the card, you'll need to check out the process video to see all the details! Tone on Tone stamping with large background stamps, washi tape, gold thread, vellum, enamel dots, Nuvo Drops, and some fine point black pen edging. I also used Cricut Design Space Print then Cut feature for the sentiments.
