Card Goal 2020; Weeks 50 - 52

2020 has come to an end! Now, we can look forward to a new year and everything that it entails. I'm so glad I committed to sending at least one card a week for the year. I did complete my challenge and in fact, I sent out so many more than 52.

Here's what I sent on these weeks:

Week 50: Three Christmas cards to my aunts & uncle on my dad's side
Week 51:  Sympathy card to my aunt
Week 52:  Birthday card to a friend

I didn't take a group photo of all the cards, but I did take this one:

I do plan on continuing to send cards but I'm not commiting to one a week - I'll send as I see fit, but it'll be interesting to see if I do send at least one a week...I'll keep you posted!

If you want to see more of this goal and what cards I sent, click on the Card Goal 2020 label to the right.

BBTB2; Thanksgiving

Happy Monday! It's the start of the two week challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2 challenge site. This challenge is...Thanksgiving.

I don't normally send out Thanksgiving cards but since there won't be a lot of family gathering this year, I decided that I'll send some this year.

I searched for turkey images in Design Space and saw this Turkey Day card from the Simple Holiday Cards set; and duplicated it so I could create multiple cards. These were so simple to do. I love that turkey and I added some interest by putting glitter marker on the feathers. One has a gold glitter marker and the other is clear glitter.

This is a great way to send THANKS to everyone that you are thankful for. I do a TGIF; Thankful Friday post every Friday and it helps me to be grateful and thankful for all the little things.

Come back on Friday to see what I'm thankful for this week...even I don't know yet! LOL

I also have set a goal for myself this year to send at least one card a week. Click on the Card Goal 2020 label to read more about that.

Create your Thanksgiving themed project using your Cricut and link it to the BBTB2 challenge site HERE.

And remember...

Card Goal 2020 Update; Weeks 29 - 35

Ok...if I'm going to be honest, I missed a week. I'm mad at myself because I had a birthday boy to send it to, but didn't remember to actually send the card. But that won't stop me from future cards and that's why they make Belated Birthday cards!
So to continue my goal, I'm determined to send out all these cards for Weeks 29 - 35:
Week 29 - Birthday Card to a friend
Week 30 - Wedding Card to cousins
Week 31 - Birthday Card to a friend and three sympathy cards
Week 32 - Birthday Cards to my daughter & granddaughter
Week 33 - Thinking of You card to a retired coworker
Week 34 - Birthday Card to my nephew
Week 35 - Birthday Cards to a friend & my mom

I made this card using some stamps from Graphic 45 for a FB request for cards for their 90 year old grandfather:
I love the vintage feel of this card!

I had to send three sympathy cards during Week 31. There was only one death, but I am friends with three different families of that person.

BBTB2; Cute Critters Challenge

Are you ready for another fun challenge at Bitten By The Bug 2? I sure am! I love using my Cricut and these challenges can take me out of my box. The current challenge theme is...Cute Critters!

If you are a regular to my blog, you know that I have set a goal for 2020 to send at least one card a week. I've been doing great and most weeks I send out more than one. My once full card box is getting thinner and thinner.

I had a request for a birthday card for a little girl turning five and came up with this cute card.
This cut is called Unicorn (#M36F4C).

I don't always make square cards but I thought this unicorn deserved all the room it could get! I used a glitter pen for the wing & horn, but it's so hard to capture in photos.

The unicorn was adhered with foam adhesive to pop it up.

Now it's your turn...create something using your Cricut and a cute critter and share it at the BBTB2 blog.

If you are interested in receiving a handmade card from me, please contact me via my email that is provided on the "contact" tab on the homepage.

Card Goal Update; Weeks 22 - 28 & TGIF; Thankful Friday #137

My card box is thinning out! I donated 26 cards to Scrapbook.com on their cards for kindness drive. (If you're interested in contributing to this drive, check out my earlier post HERE.) That helped a lot, but I'm still making cards and sending them out.  Woo Hoo!

I've been gathering cards based on the occasions that I prepare for and put them aside to send out weekly. By the end of the time period, I not only send out the predesignated cards, but also other cards as reasons come up. So for Set 3, I gathered the following cards:

Week 22: RAK to Bianca; Get Well to a coworker
Week 23: Stacey's Birthday; DS2 Graduation; Thank You
Week 24: Father's Day and Thinking of You to a friend (she had surgery)
Week 25: Oops! Skipped this week by accident
Week 26: Just Because to my friend Katie and birthday card to a friend's son
Week 27: Thank You card for a friend
Week 28: Nephew Marcus' Birthday

And additional cards that I sent during this timeframe:
My granddaughter made this card with a little help from the Circuit. To be fair, I did not send it, she did, but I thought it was worth adding to the weekly card list! (Her cousin, my niece broke her leg hence the crutches.)
This was made using the Elements 1
stamp set from Bloom Art
This was on a YouTube Video
(Click HERE to see the original post)
If you are interested in receiving a handmade card from me, let me know.

This is also my TGIF; Thankful Friday post. This week I'm thankful that I'm sending these cards out. It's been great hearing from people that have been blessed by handmade cards. I'm having a lot of fun with this! Many are being encouraged to start sending their own cards (and many have purchased cards from me). Although selling them was not my intention, but hey...a little bit of green never hurt anyone.

BBTB2 Wedding/Anniversary Challenge

Hi there! Click on over to the BBTB2 site to participate in the current challenge which is wedding/anniversary.

I'm "attending" a Facebook live wedding ceremony in August so I tried to come up with something clever for the card. Thanks to a free cut from lovesvg, I was able to come up with this...

This SVG started like this:

and I ungrouped, duplicated, sliced and contoured it for the final sentiment you see on the card. I didn't need a birthday card, I needed a wedding card!

I love that you can customize your cuts in Design Space for what you need. I used the following cuts from Design Space:

Champagne Glass #M9192848 and Vines #MA9DF128
Both of these are free if you subscribe to Cricut Access.

Another view of the card with a peek at the inside:

Originally, the card was just the sentiment, but it really wasn't pretty for a wedding card. I knew it needed something. I searched for flowers and flourishes in DS to find something to embellish the card front. It's such a small addition but it makes such a big difference and I really like the champagne glasses in the inside of the card.

You can't see the sparkle, but I brushed shimmer over the vines & glasses.

Since the image was pretty large, I created a 5.5 x 5.5" square card - I don't normally make square cards, but I was gifted a bunch of square envelopes so I may as well use them!

I can't wait to see what you create with your Cricut and the current challenge theme. Click on over to BBTB2 and link your project!

2020 Goal Update; Weeks 15-21

Do you remember my 2020 goal to send at least one card a week? Well, I’m still sending them out. My card box is getting thinner and thinner. Here are the cards for this round:

As I’m going through my card box, I am finding some that need to be updated.
This card went from this:
To this:
This balloon animals stamp set is from Fun Stampers Journey and I colored them in using alcohol markers. The red one is popped up with some 3D adhesive.

Week 15 - Sharon’s birthday
Week 16 - What’s Up to Mellissa and two sympathy cards
Week 17 - May Day to Vicky and RAK to NJ FB group friend and another sympathy card
Week 18 - Mother’s Day to my mom & friend, Lauren
Week 19 - Robert’s birthday
Week 20 - Derek’s birthday (DS2)
Week 21 - Serena’s birthday

Here’s some photos of the additional four cards I mailed out this round:

If you would like a receive a handmade card from me, please leave a comment here and send me an email with your mailing address OR if you know someone who needs a “pick me up”, I can send one to them as well.

Cards For Kindness; Card Goal 2020

Scrapbook.com is gathering cards to donate to hospitals and organizations. Go to their blog to read more about it, but when I received the email from them, I was totally onboard! This gave me a chance to donate and also continue my 2020 goal to send out cards.

I went through my card box and gathered 26 cards. I could have gathered more, but I didn't want to completely deplete my card stash.

If this is something you'd like to do, check out their blog HERE for more details. The do require a minimum of 10 cards so this is a great project for a group of card makers!

If you are interested in receiving a handmade card from me, send me an email. You can find my email address in the Contact tab on the homepage.

2020 Goal Update; Weeks 7-14

Hey there!
My 2020 New Year Goal is coming along. I made a goal for myself to send at least one card a week and so far so good.

As promised, I actually took photos of each card before I mailed them.

Week 7:  Tony's Birthday Card (DS1)
Week 8:  Juan's Birthday Card
Week 9:  Caroline and Connie's Birthday Cards
Week 10:  Stella Thinking Of You Card
Week 11:  Katiya's Birthday Card
Week 12:  Bobby's Birthday Card
Week 13:  Kim's Birthday Card
Week 14:  Easter Cards (mom & Vern)

The cards:

The "Snoopy" card had an up-do. I made that card years ago and it was really flimsy. Check out the video:

And the final card:

If you'd like to receive a handmade card from me, send me an email with your mailing address. You can find my email on the "Contact Me' tab on the Home Page.

My card box is getting so full, I felt the need to spread the love. I make cards but don't mail them out. It makes no sense! So, with this goal, I am also sending cards from the box and not making new ones.

This has also prompted some new sales of my cards. It is a happy accident since that wasn't my intention, but hey, I'll take it.

2020 Goal Update

2020 New Year Goal Update:
Do you remember the goal? My personal goal is to send at least one handmade card out a week. I know it's only been five weeks, but I'm still doing it and it feels great.

Week #1: Joey's 7th B-day
Week #2: Robert & Juan Just Because (sent them photos that I've been holding on to)
Week #3: Lynne's B-day
Week #4: Jori's 15th B-day
Week #5: Miramontes Sympathy
Week #6: Multiple Valentine's Day

You know I didn't take any photos of the cards I sent but I'm going to try to be better in the following updates.

It's been fun going through my card box. I don't always do that and I forget the cute cards that I've created and some that I cringed over. LOL

The first thing I did was put in all the birthdays and anniversary, etc., on the NOTES section of my planner each week.
There are a lot of weeks that I don't have an occasion to send a card, so that's when I'll send a "thinking of you" card to my list of family and friends or anyone who comments that they would love a handmade card from me.

If that's you...contact me via email (check the contact me tab) and send me your mailing address.

New Year Goal 2020

It's still January so I can still say, "Happy New Year!" I did not make a resolution for 2020, but instead set myself a goal.

I make many, many cards for DT submission, challenges and some times just for creative fun but rarely send them out. Although, I do sell them by having Pop Up sale at my work 3x a year, but my box is still full.

This year, I set a goal to send at least one handmade card every week (that's a minimum of 52 cards!). I went through my planner and put in the obvious birthday cards to send and then I'll need to fill in with "Just Because" or other occasion cards for the rest.

If you are interested in receiving a handmade card from me, please send me an email. You can find my email address in the Contact Me tab on the homepage.

I'll post an update every month or so for two reasons...the first is to keep you guys in the know and the second is to keep me accountable & remind me of my goal.

It's only week two and so far I'm on track! :)

2/52 Count Down:
Week 1:  Nephew #5 Birthday
Week 2:  Nephew #1 Just Because (filled w/photos I promised him)

Also, let me know if you'd like a photo of the cards I send out. I'll do a montage every update.
