Grand Canyon Layout; CutCardStock and Cricut

Boy do I love creating layouts using CutCardStock paper and my Cricut. I found this cool image on Design Space and then grabbed Pop Tone Orange Fizz, Tangy Orange, Basis Gold, Kraft and Gumdrop Green cardstock to create it for my photos of the Grand Canyon. All of these colored cardstock are from CutCardStock.

The image was changed to 11” tall so it could take half the page and really stand out!

After putting the pieces together, I realized it needed some inked edges. This made such a big difference. I don’t always think to do this. It’s a simple way to add dimension without bulk. I also added some additional embellishments on the sun & cactus using markers.

The Grand Canyon title is also from Design Space. I used a square to ‘slice’ the bottom of the frame since I only wanted the words. (I originally cut the background in black but then decided not to use it for the final layout)

I matted the patterned paper in Vanilla Bean Brown cardstock and gutted the middle so I could also mat the photos.

Two photos, cut banners and information from a sticker I purchased at the Grand Canyon completes the layout!

Be sure to check out the post on the CutCardStock blog to see more of this project as well as others.

Cake Topper Perfect for a Football Fan

I can be so last minute with my crafting projects and I'm sure you're the same way! Hubby's birthday was Sunday and so I created this football lover cake topper first thing in the morning. It was pretty simple and it took less than an hour to design and create. All images are in Design Space.

All cardstock including the glitter cardstock is from CutCardStock.

What a difference a cake topper makes to a grocery store cake!

We had those football themed cupcake picks already and were a perfect addition to the cake.

World Card Making Day Sketch #2

Even though World Card Making Day is supposed to be a day, Sketch n Scrap has decided to post a new card sketch every Saturday during the month of October! Be sure to check all the sketches as well as the regular monthly two cards and two scrapbook layout sketches this month.

This is WCMD sketch #2:

I have decided to do something different and fun with this sketch. I made a Triple Flap Accordion Fun Fold card.

I also created a YouTube process video to show you how easy it is to put together. I love these fun fold cards because they look so difficult but they aren't.

Aren't those animals adorable? I purchased the Stampendous stamp set from Tuesday Morning back when Tuesday Morning had a great craft section. I did some simple coloring using a variety of alcohol markers from my stash. The patterned papers are the Magical Birthday collection from Echo Park. I love the bright colors!

More views of the card.

Be sure to join the WCMD challenges and stick around for the regular sketch challenges as well.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #242

Hello Friday! Another week is ending which gives me another week to be thankful. This week I'm thankful for a 49er win! DS3 and family hosted the Monday Night Game and we enjoyed cheering them on!

As usual, we wore our 49er gear so we know that always helps with the win. :)

I just made this fun T for my youngest granddaughter since she needed a 49er shirt. I ordered some puffy HTV in red and it is so fun! I wish I would have used white instead of black to outline the football, but it's still super cute!

What about you? What are you thankful for this week? Leave a comment below or on my IG account which is @3sons_and_astar

Yesterday, my daughter and I visited the Chase Center in San Francisco. It was so cool and of course we took lots of photos. Here's my favorite of my DD.

We were in SF because DS1 had a CT Scan appointment. He won't hear anything officially until Tuesday, but looking at the scan results the cancer is decreasing in size so we were all cheering in the car on the way home.

It’s a Fig on My Layout

Never would I think that I’d use a fig on a layout let alone two and an entire background sheet! This Gypsy Rose paper pack by Photo Play was the perfect colors for the photos of me and my youngest granddaughter.

I followed this sketch for my layout:
Go to Scrapbooking With AnnMarie website for all things scrapbooking!

Here’s the final layout:

I added some solid pieces of card stock to give our eyes some rest, but all the embellishments are from the pack as well.

I wanted the polka dot paper to be larger but I cut into it without really thinking. The size is 7.5 x 8.5. The green mat is a half an inch larger on both sides.  The two vertical strips are .75” each. The “bricks” on the left are around 1.5 to 2” tall x 4”.

Angled Gate Card; MCK October

I"ve been seeing these angled gate cards around a lot so I thought I'd make these for the October, 2022, Monthly Card Kit (MCK). This is the complement card and not the one we'll make together during the FaceBook LIVE Event on the last Tuesday of the month.

If you want to see the featured card, check out the Monthly Card Kit tab from the Home Page.

These cards are pretty simple to make but are oh so pretty and fun! The card base is 5.5x11 scored at 3 1/8 and 7 5/8 on the 11" side. Then you mark down 1.5" from the top left and top right sides of the card as well as 1" from the both sides of the bottom edge. See the photo below and also check out the YouTube process video for clarification.

Once you slice off those 'triangles', you'll have your card base. The patterned papers will also be cut that way from two 3 1/8x5 1/4” pieces.

You can use the leftover strip of cardstock (after you cut the 8.5x11" cardstock into 5.5x11") to cut 1.5 x 11" strip to use for the band.

All cuts were on Cricut Design Space and the patterned papers are from the Main Street collection from Quick Quotes.

I love this rustic paper because it gives it a masculine look but those colors work well for anyone.

I realize that I don't make many masculine cards and I need to do that more often.

What do you think? Pretty cool, right?

TGIF; Thankful Friday #241

Another week has gone by and we've been getting some great fall weather. I'm thankful this week for another family gathering. I am so grateful and thankful that both sides of our family are close in both distance and relations.

We don't always get together, but when we do, we have a great time and truly enjoy hanging out!

I hope you have the same relationship with your family.

What are you thankful for this week? Let me know in the comments here or on my IG page which is @3sons_and_astar
