Last Color Challenge on Color Me Beautiful

The creators of Color Me Beautiful have decided to stop the challenge blog so this is the last color challenge.

I wasn't sure how I liked the color combination until I started putting it together.  The color combo:

Rose Red, Primrose Petals, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand.  I just happened to have all of the cardstock this time so it made it a little easier.  I also had both the Rose Red and Sahara Sand ink.

Here's what I came up with:
It's a Cupcake Take-Along!
All products used are from Stampin' Up including all the stamps and punches I used to create this.  I had wanted to do this for a long time and my good friend is coming over next week to make one for her cousin.  I thought I should try making one first.  It was a lot harder than I thought it'd be.  Mostly because I didn't have the pattern, dimensions or directions.  I just had a photo to go on.
I think if I make another one I'll use patterned paper to add more pizazz to it but since it was a color challenge, I wanted to use my cardstock and stamps.  I don't love the ribbon I used either, but that's a whole other story.

The front "square" is actually a pocket.  The inside tubes will be filled with sprinkles and the pocket can hold other cupcake decorations, candles, cupcake liners, etc.

Punches used:
Scalloped border punch
scallop circle
word window
(I forgot the name of the fancy thin punch - LOL)

I don't love it, but it's still cute...I definitely need to practice!

Color Challenge

This is the result of this color challenge...

Click on this link to play...

this is a gift card holder - perfect for a Starbucks card.  The "top" pulls up and there's a spot for the card.  The "cup" is a pocket.

Watch this Utube video for instructions.  So easy and cute!

I used the Art Philosophy cartridge to cut the holly and berries.
I'm making these for the craft boutique I'm participating in on December 1st.

Bottle Caps, Bottle Caps and More Bottle Caps

Last year during Oktoberfest, a local fundraiser, I won the door prize which was one of each 120 beers that were served during the event. Yup, I hit the Mother Lode!

After the first few beers were opened and tossed aside, I realized that I wanted to keep all the bottle caps for something.  I wasn't sure yet, but I knew that I'd think of something.  So...120 beers later and some extras, I had them layered on this old lazy Susan that I bought years ago at a thrift shop.  They were in there loose and I finally decided to put them in permanently.

I should have taken the photo before I started painting it, but I did think about it 1/2 way through.  As you can see it was an ugly fake green wood paneling.  I painted it with black chalkboard paint.
Then I glued the bottle caps in some sort of order.
I must confess, about 1/2 way through I realized I didn't leave spaces between the caps for the grout.  DUH!  So I took off a few and just sort of adjusted them - nope I did not measure any distance - I know it's not very professional but hey, I'm not a professional grouter.
Took a break for the glue to dry...Hey there Carly and Gracie :)
Voila!  Project done!

Don't look too close because you can see where some grout is not as full as other spots but I literally JUST barely had enough of it and I was scraping it everywhere to complete it.

I can't wait to show this off at the next Durham party!

Little Purses and Avon Lip Balm

Yup, it's Holiday Boutique time and I've been slowing making things for this purpose.  I ordered some lip balms from Avon (yes, I'm an Avon representative).  Check out my on-line website if you'd like to order any Avon - shipping is free for orders over $30!  Ok, there's my Avon plug...

I've made the lip balm holders that look like mini folders before but didn't really have much success with them so I decided to search for mini purses.  At first I used my Cricut and cut a purse using the Bags, Tags, Boxes and More cartridge - which by the way were adorable - but they were too roomy for this purpose and used a lot of paper.  So then I searched the SCS gallery and found this easy tutorial by Frenchie.  Check on the video tutorial here.

I still want to add some ribbon to one of the handles but then I'll be done.  These little purses are using a 6x6 sheet of paper and scraps for the edging and handles.  I love the way they turned out!  If these sell, I'll make more later.

Scrappin' in Patterson Photo/Layout Swap

This is the two page layout I made for my friend Karen.  We did a photo/layout exchange with our Scrappin' in Patterson group.  We had a month to complete it and I just finished last night.  I basically grabbed every 4th of July "candy" and border swaps I had and included them somehow on this layout.  We had two sketches that we needed to follow or be inspired by.  I used the bottom sketch (see below).

I hope she likes it.  I think it turned out pretty fun!
