Love To Scrap Challenge Blog; July Challenge

Happy July! Today is the first day of the monthly challenge at Love To Scrap Challenge Blog (LTSCB). This month's challenge theme is Anything Goes! (Every other month at LTSCB the theme is Anything Goes.)

I created a two page layout spread of our road trip to Arizona last year. I purchased this stamp set since my sister and mom moved to AZ a couple of years ago and finally had a chance to use it.
I used it to stamp in the top left and bottom right corners of the left side of the layout.
I cut the title and signs with my Cricut. I had them for years since I made them for another project but decided not to use them at that time. They were perfect for this project!
I used the stamps & used them on layered punched circles to add embellishments to the right side of the two page layout. The cactus scenery and title were also cut from my Cricut. The two stickers on the bottom were purchased at the Grand Canyon.
I used 4x6 flip flaps adhered to the outside of the page protector for these photos. When they are flipped, there are two more on the back side of these photos and then the photos of the two of us together on the actual page. I love using flip flaps to add more photos to a 12x12 spread.

Be sure to create something fabulous and link it to the LTSCB before the end of the month. Remember the theme this month is...anything goes! Have fun and Craft On!

Love to Craft Challenge Blog; July Challenge

The challenge at the Love To Craft Challenge Blog (LTCCB)as always is Anything Goes. For this month, I decided to make some cards using the Baby Wipe technique.

The technique is to create your own ink pad. To do this, you need to drop ink on a folded baby wipe. I used five different reinkers in fall colors and dropped ink around the baby wipe closely together.
I know it doesn’t look like much but wait until you use it. I used three different foliage stamps and stamped randomly on two white pieces of 4 1/4 x 5 1/2” cardstock.

Then I used a neutral ink pad & dauber to add shading around the edges

Once I did that, I cut those pieces into 2” and 2 1/4” strips. I matted each with different colors and adhered to the card fronts.

I stamped two different sentiments, added twine and some Nuvo drops to complete each card. I love them so much. I love the variety of leaves when making your own ink pad - so pretty!

I used three stamps in my Nature stamp drawer. If you are a regular follower of my blog, I’m working on a new series called “Bash Your Stash”. Click on the label on the right to see more posts. Can you believe this is the first time I used these awesome stamps!?! Yup...keeping ‘em!

Now it’s your turn, create and link a project of any kind to the LTCCB site before the end of the month.

Junk Journal Pages

Have I told you lately that I love working in my Junk Journal? Well, I do! Sometimes I just flip through the signatures just to see what's already been done.  Other times, I'll purposely select pages to work on. I did a little bit of both this past week.

I have containers, baggies and folders full of "junk" for my journal. Many of them are already "prettied" by mopping up excess medium when I'm working on other projects.

I pulled out this beautiful under paper and cut a piece to put in the journal.

The two pages that it's sandwiched between were done by my granddaughter. Check out the post HERE.
I wasn't too concerned of the rip since I knew it was eventually going to be covered.

I cut out the RESET button on this mailer and handwrote the other words.

I added more color, stamps, and marks before calling it done.

Don't you wish we could hit a RESET button for 2020? What a year!

Here's another spread I worked on:

The owl was encouraged by Tamara Laporte of willowing.org. You saw the lion earlier this week. Isn't her work fun!?! I love the bright colors of this spread. I added the verse to the left side with a Sharpie to complete the spread.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #135

TGIF This week flew by. That in itself is something to be thankful for, but this week, I'm thankful for lipstick.

I know, I know...it sounds crazy especially when I rarely wear it anymore, but earlier this week my daughter brought out a big bag of unused and slightly used makeup. Well, my DIL, granddaughter (remember, she's 9) and I were so excited. We all took our turn digging in and grabbing what we wanted.

Such a girlie thing, but so fun!

My mom is a huge lipstick fan. In fact, I can't think of a time when she didn't suggest that we put on lipstick.
How about you? Do you wear lipstick?

Kaleidoscope Taster Week

I mentioned before that there are so many free classes, workshops, etc. that I'm trying to take advantage of. Last week, willowing.org offered a free taster of her Kaleidoscope workshop. The free taster is/was a week long Facebook event that had an art lesson each day along with giveaways.

This Wonky Lion was the result of Day Two's lesson. I painted him on an already started page in my Junk Journal. I just love him!

Close Ups:

Most of the piece was painted with watercolors but I also used white gelato, black ballpoint pen, gold metallic marker and a white correction pen. The background was made by mopping up and wiping excess acrylic paints and stamped images.

I may end up making a card with him.

Check out Tamara LaPorte's website...willowing.org to see more about the workshop and to see her art.

Junk Journal Spread

Here's another two page spread in the Junk Journal I completed. I have so many unfinished pages within the six signatures. It's a lot of fun to go through them and complete pages especially when I just want to get messy.

This spread started by writing a personal encouraging message to myself - scribbling it messily across both pages. Then I divided the spread diagonally in half by using acrylic paint.
Most of the medium was acrylic paints, but I did add some pencil and gelato sticks to add some marks and shading.

I have absolutely no idea what encouraged the images on the spread- I just started painting and one thing led to another.

Without revealing what I wrote to myself, it was basically the two roles I play in my life - one as caretaker of our family but also to myself and this symbolizes the two roles and how they interact with each other. Basically one more revealing and the other more personal.
