Scrapbooking...Finally

My daughter and I went to an all day crop on Saturday and I finally started scrapbooking my huge pile of photos.

I followed a sketch from Stick It Down for this one.

The papers on the corners caught my eye so I used this sketch for the first page of our Universal Studios' trip.

Here are some closeups:

I fussy cut the feathers from the patterned paper, added the left over punctuations from a letter sticker sheet, quotes/words and splattered Black Licorice Color Silk.

The quote strips are homemade by typing random quotes in Microsoft Word and printing on a full sheet label. I am a little obsessed with small words/quotes right now. I love how they just add a little "something" on cards and layouts.

This trip was so fun. My daughter mentioned the night before that she wanted to go to Universal Studios but we said maybe on a free weekend, well we woke up the next day saying "let's go"! So we both called in sick and went on a random Monday. It's about a five hour drive so we left Sunday night and spent the day at Universal Studios on Monday. We both went to work on Tuesday. Crazy fun!

If you get a chance, click on over to Stick It Down and check out their sketch challenge. They have three challenges a month - two page layout, one page layout and card sketch.

TGIF; Thankful Friday #54 and Giveaway Winner

Thank Goodness It's Friday! Tomorrow, my daughter and I are attending an all day crop at a LSS. I'm thankful for this store since so many of them went out of business and closed their doors. It's nice to say we have one (sort of) local. It's about 45 minutes away, but just up the freeway from our town.

I am also announcing the GIVEAWAY that just ended to thank you guys for your support and kind comments.

Out of 25 people who left comments, the random winner is...drumroll please...

Stacy Sheldon!

Congratulations Stacy! Please send me an email with your mailing address.  My email address is doorknocker3 at yahoo dot com.  (Is this how we're supposed to send emails now? Someone tell me because I've been noticing it more and more - probably to keep the scammers away??)

Stacy, you will get an assortment of five of my cards. These cards are photocopies of my original mixed media artwork. They are also on my Etsy Shop (ThreeSonsandAStar).

Thanks to all who left comments.

Last of the ICAD 2018

ICAD 2018 is now complete! I had fun but am glad it's done. It's hard to commit to doing something every day.

Here are the last of my cards:

To see all of the 2018 ICADs and the past two years, click on the ICAD label to the right. Remember, you don't have to participate on the June 1 - July 31st dates...just pick any day to start and create an index card for 61 consecutive days. In fact, the first two years, I did not participate during the June/July timeframe because I knew I would be too busy. To read more about this challenge or to get the themes and prompts, click HERE.

Here's a photo of all 61 cards!

Look, my ICAD box came with an iPhone. LOL

CWS August Challenge: Father

August challenge at Creative With Stamps (CWS) is:

Sponsor:

Prize:
Products of your Choice

Masculine cards are always a little tough for me but once I start, I always wonder why I make that statement. LOL

I used the Born to Grill stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey (FSJ). I love all the images in it but for this card, I used the beer mug, bottles and bottle opener.

I covered the card base with scraps from my scrap pile, three different washi tapes and some twine.
Some close ups:

and inside:

I used the MISTI to stamp the "cheers" on the front of the card using a set from CTMH. I inked all edges and popped up the mug. Each bottle, mug and opener were stamped on the back side of the brown patterned paper (it was white on back) and colored in with markers.

I showed my hubby...of course he liked it.  LOL

Be sure to click on over to the Creative With Stamps challenge site to join this challenge!

Handmade Baby Gift

I love getting baby shower invitations. It means I get to create something for a new baby! Ever since I started sewing, I make handmade baby gifts. Well, since my sewing machine conked out on me right before Christmas and my new machine hasn't come out of the box yet, I decided to make some iron on onesies.

I made some last month (see post HERE) and loved them! Those tiny onesies are adorable just by themselves, but add some "pretty" and they are adorable++.

The theme was Tropical Baby, but I'm still hesitant to make a multi-layered iron on. I've watched videos and it looks easy, but it scares me a little. Especially since I hate wasting vinyl - they are so expensive.

Even though they are only one layer, they still turned out adorable and the parents-to-be were really excited about them.

All cuts were freebies at LoveSVG.

Make a Wish

We had another Paint Night at my local library. It is so fun and there is a group of "regulars" now so I'm meeting new people as well as seeing my friends I don’t normally get to see often.

Here's the painting:

I have to tell you, that background was a lot harder than I thought it would be. I saw some stripes and figured...EASY...nope. We had to blend out the visually noticeable lines but be careful because we didn't want to make green. UGH!

I did learn a new technique with the black "grassy" silhouette. I really like how that turned out.

I hand wrote the words using a Sharpie they provided.

I am happy how it turned out though and no matter what, it's fun and free!

ICAD 2018; Week Eight & TGIF Thankful Friday #53

I know it's Saturday and I'm a day late in my TGIF; Thankful Friday post but I didn't want to not do it. We've hired a Handy Man to do some projects in our house and I'm so thankful for him. He does an excellent job and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. Or at least it seems reasonable to us. We put new floors in our guest bedroom and soon the kitchen. I am so excited and thankful for his "super power"! And ours to recognize that we can't do it ourselves and we waited long enough. LOL

So what are you thankful for this week? Leave a comment below...

I can see the finish line from here. This will be the last full week of this 61 day challenge. If you're interested in seeing more cards, click on the ICAD label to the right. This is my third year participating in the challenge.

The first year, I framed a bunch of these but so far this year and last, they all just went into a box. These boxes are the ones that our iPhones came in. I added some of the labels I made using my art. I told my daughter, let's see how did I put it, the index card holders come with an iPhone...or something like that. LOL
